In Which The Wicked Queen Discusses Recent Print Releases

Alternative title: Gothic Angelic Pretty!?

I've been following Lolita and Lolita print releases since... mid-2011, perhaps? even though i have yet to own even the most rudimentary of loli OTL And even in that short time, it's been fascinating to watch trends come and go!

This is, obviously, only the very beginning of 2014. It's the first day of February! And yet in the month that has already passed full of wardrobe posts on EGL that make my heart weep, there's been a lot that's been released!Yes, it is 1/12 of the year, but some part of my subconscious still doesn't expect much activity in Lolita brands until about May or so.

Seriously, 2014 is off to a great start!

Since I literally have no life and therefore have little other choice than to skulk around Lolibrary and EGL and weep with a tub of ice cream in front of the TV while watching Mythbusters, I've noticed something interesting in Angelic Pretty's last few releases- they seem to be a dark classic or gothic style!

Angelic Pretty's Wonder Queen print from super late 2013

Angelic Pretty's Royal Unicorn Print, also from super late 2013

Angelic Pretty's Radiant Candlelight print, also also from super late 2013

Finally, something from 2014! Angelic Pretty's Secret Mansion OP

Of course, with the release of Romantic Rose Letter they've put themselves firmly back on the side of Sweet, but it was still interesting to see all the more mature and "darker" prints and dresses being released! I mean, obviously they're not releasing prints of JetJ-level classic or to the gothic caliber of Moitie, but I still find it fascinating how they've managed to put out dresses that are very different from the sugary sweetness they're known for, but still definitively Angelic Pretty!

What do you think of Angelic Pretty's recent foray into the novel? Do you think they're slowly going in a new direction, or that they were simply marketing toward the cold winter months? Personally, I find it lovely and hope they do it more in the future, although I certainly don't think they're going to even consider ceasing to be a mostly Sweet brand.

That's all I have for today, my lovely subjects! Until next time!
